Chhattisgarh Woman Suicide: A very shocking and distressing case has come to light from village Kerakchar under Kartala police station area of Korba district of Chhattisgarh. Here, a 52-year-old woman committed suicide over the simple matter of mobile network going down and internet being shut down. This incident has emerged as the most horrifying example of how the habit of watching reels on a handheld smartphone can prove fatal. Deceased Mangalo Bai Sarathi was furious only because the internet on her phone was working intermittently. This minor hindrance filled the woman with so much anger that she first threw her expensive phone on the ground and shattered it and then after some time, she swallowed poisonous insecticide kept in the house.
Fierce anger erupted due to network loss
The incident is said to have taken place on the afternoon of September 5. Mangalo Bai was sitting in the room of her house watching social media reels on her mobile. During this time, suddenly there was a network problem in the area and phone connectivity started disappearing again and again. Due to lack of network, the reel playing on the screen suddenly started getting stuck. When the video did not progress for a long time, Mangalo Bai's patience ran out completely. His anger went out of control to such an extent that without thinking, he threw the smartphone in his hand directly on the ground. The phone was badly broken, but even after this vandalism his temper did not calm down. She became extremely restless and in the same impulse of anger, she picked up the insecticide kept in a corner of the house and drank it.
When the daughter saw it she was shocked
Within a few minutes of swallowing the poison, severe pain started in the woman's body and her condition started deteriorating rapidly. It was only when she started writhing on the floor due to unbearable pain that her family members became aware of the untoward incident. First of all, her seventeen year old minor daughter reached the room, who saw her mother struggling. When the daughter raised an alarm, the rest of the house came running. The entire family was shocked. In a hurry, the relatives ran to the Government Primary Health Center of Kartala with the woman. The doctors there tried to save the woman's life by giving first aid, but the effect of the pesticide had spread throughout the body. Seeing the situation going out of control, the doctors immediately referred him to the District Medical College Hospital, where even the team of specialist doctors could not save his breath.
A mountain of sorrow fell on the family while laughing.
This unimaginable incident has left the entire family devastated. Deceased Mangalo Bai is survived by her husband Premlal Sarathi and three children. His eldest son is twenty-four years old, who is married and lives and works in Korba city. Mangalo Bai lived in a village house with her husband Premlal, twenty-two year old second son and seventeen year old daughter. The atmosphere at home was normal and no one had even dreamed that Mangalo Bai would take such a step just because of a mobile screen. The minor daughter has been most shocked, who saw her mother suffering with her own eyes. As soon as the information was received, Kartala police station reached the hospital, prepared the Panchnama of the body, got the post-mortem done and after completing the legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members.
Mobile addiction becomes more of a mental illness than entertainment
This tragic incident is not just a case of criminal or unnatural death, but the bitter reality of digital addiction silently spreading in the society. In today's era, reels and short videos have become the most accessible means of passing people's free time. Moving fingers on the screen for hours captivates people's mind in such a way that they lose consciousness of the real world. Feeling extreme irritability, violent anger or deep depression when the internet is not working, the phone's battery drains or someone interrupts are serious symptoms of mobile dependence. Psychiatrists believe that when a person starts losing his mental balance when he is away from the screen, the family should take it seriously. In such a situation, it is important to set a time limit for using the phone, increase communication among each other and if the situation worsens, a doctor should be consulted in time.
