Lucknow, Read: In line with the spirit of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Handball Association has made major changes in its administrative structure. Four boards and two athlete commissions were constituted at the association's annual general meeting (AGM) to ensure participation of players while enhancing transparency and accountability in sports governance. Under this new arrangement, Amit Pandey has once again been given the responsibility of acting general secretary.

Association Chairman Dr. Sudhir M. Bobde (Retd. IAS) and President Alka Das virtually attended the AGM held in Lucknow. General Secretary Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey said that in accordance with the spirit of the new Sports Governance Act, it is necessary to make the administrative system of sports organizations more transparent and accountable. The priority of the association is to strengthen the coaching, selection, technical and referee system along with giving effective platform to the players in the organization.

Handing over the responsibility of Acting General Secretary to Amit Pandey is being seen as a confidence in his organizational experience. He has been given the responsibility of speeding up handball activities in the state, establishing coordination between various boards and strengthening communication between players and associations. Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey said that Amit Pandey's name will be proposed for the post of State General Secretary in the organizational formation to be held after the completion of the current tenure.

Four boards and two athlete commissions formed

The association has constituted four boards for expertise based governance. The chairman of the coaching board will be Mohammad Tauheed and the coordinator will be Mohammad Irfan. The command of the Technical Board has been given to Chairman Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Convener Dr. Devesh. Selection Board Chairman will be Sanjay Rai and Convener Dr. Sumant Pandey, while Referee Board Chairman Parminder Singh and Convener Shams Tabrez Shampu have been made.

Female and male athlete commissions have also been formed to increase participation of players. The Chairperson of the Women Athletes Commission will be Jyoti Shukla and the coordinator will be Manjula Pathak. Chairman Sachin Bhardwaj and coordinator Mohit Yadav will handle the responsibilities of the Male Athletes Commission. According to the association, the new structure will increase expertise in administration and players' problems, suggestions and needs will be effectively incorporated into the organization's decisions.
