LPG Booking Rule: If you live in a rural area and are a consumer of LPG gas cylinders, there is an important and relief news for you. State-owned oil companies have drastically reduced the cooking gas cylinder refill booking period in rural areas. Now rural customers can book a second cylinder in just 25 days instead of 45 days.

Earlier even before the Hormuz crisis, the 25-day rule for booking refills was in force. Now with this decision, the cylinder booking interval for both rural and urban customers has become the same i.e. 25 days.

Earlier in rural areas there was a huge gap of 45 days between two bookings which often led to shortage of cooking gas. This encouraged black market and illegal refilling.

• Similarities in Features: The main objective of this change is to bridge the gap in facilities between urban and rural India, so that even rural households have uninterrupted access to timely cooking fuel.

• Relief for large families: The 45-day period was too long, especially for large households with high gas consumption.

A decision keeping in mind the festive and wedding season

Fuel consumption in rural households increases during wedding or festival season. With the new 25-day rule in place, consumers will not have to wait long for gas in case of an emergency.

Now if the cylinder consumption in your house is high, you can book the second cylinder only on the 25th day after the first 14.2 kg cylinder is delivered. This new rule of booking has been implemented in all three major oil companies namely Indian Oil (Indane), Bharat Petroleum (Bharatgas) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas).

Crores of rural families connected under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will also get great convenience from this decision. By reducing the booking interval to 25 days, the supply chain management will be more transparent and easier for the distributors as well.
