New Delhi. There may be a big change in the coming months regarding dearness allowance for central employees and pensioners. After the release of AICPI-IW figures for July 2026, discussions regarding the next increase in DA have intensified. In the latest figures, an increase has been registered in the index, due to which the expectations of the employees have also increased.

According to Labor Bureau data, AICPI-IW increased to 153.2 points in July. In June it was 151.9 points. That means there has been an increase of 1.3 points in a month. Changes have also been seen in the inflation figures, hence now everyone will keep an eye on the figures of the next months.

Index went up continuously

A continuous increase has been seen in the AICPI-IW figures in the year 2026. It was 149.1 points in March, which increased to 149.9 points in April and 150.8 points in May. The index reached 151.9 points in June and 153.2 points in July. These figures are considered important for the revision of dearness allowance of central employees.

Salary will increase due to increase in DA

Under the Seventh Pay Commission, the change in DA is made on the basis of 12 month average AICPI-IW. It is revised twice a year. The data from July to December 2026 will be important for the next hike. Looking at the current trend, DA among employees is expected to increase by 3 to 4 percent.

Pensioners will also get benefits

The effect of increasing DA is not limited to just the working central employees. Due to amendment in Dearness Relief i.e. DR, Central Government pensioners also get its benefit. In such a situation, the upcoming DA decision will be important for lakhs of employees and pensioners.

When can the new DA be implemented?

The next revision in dearness allowance is expected to be effective from July 1, 2026. However, the government usually makes its official announcement later and after approval, employees can get arrears along with the increased amount.
