Bengaluru: Medicines worth Rs 4,02,352 were seized by the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) from two unlicensed Amazon storage facilities.
In a separate raid by FSDA, 40 bottles of expired soft drinks and pest infestation were found at Bengaluru’s Hockey Club.
The drugs were seized from facilities in Thattanahalli, in Anekal taluk, and Aerospace in Devanahalli.
Manohar, assistant drugs controller with the State Intelligence Branch, led a team of regional drugs inspectors raided the premises of M/s Amazon Seller Services Pvt. Ltd at Thattanahalli, and seized medicines worth Rs 2,45,352 without valid drug licence.
Another team led by Vibha, drugs inspector, Bangalore Rural, raided the Amazon facility at Aerospace and seized medicines worth Rs 1,57,000 from the unlicensed premises.
FSDA’s operations, based on “precise intelligence regarding major compliance breaches”, were “swift and coordinated crackdown on the illegal storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals”.
Amazon is yet to respond to the raids and seizures.
