New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a press conference on drug- issues in Panaji, Goa. He said, ever since Narendra Modi ji became the Prime Minister of this country, the Home Ministry of the Government of India has taken many steps to strengthen the internal security of the country. When Modi ji became the Prime Minister, the country was facing three huge problems. Jammu and Kashmir and the growing terrorism there, Naxalism and various armed groups in the North-East were keeping the North-East disturbed.

He said, if we look back from 2019 till now, under the leadership of Modi ji, after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the feeling of separatism has reduced a lot. The figures of terrorism appear to be gradually shrinking towards zero and Jammu and Kashmir has moved ahead on the path of development and successful efforts have also been made to bridge the mental distance between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India.
The 5 decade old problem of Naxalism has become a thing of the past today. All those who envisioned a Red Corridor from Tirupati to Pashupatinath have today laid down their arms and surrendered and have come forward to join the main stream. Similarly, in the North-East too, about 10 thousand youth have laid down their arms. The Government of India has signed more than 14 agreements with them and today the North-East has also started on the path of development.
The Home Minister said, after 2019, we also launched a campaign for the fugitive criminals who fled after committing crimes in the country. From 2019 to July 2026, we have extradited 274 fugitives from 36 countries and brought them before the courts of India. From 2019 to 2026, the assets of these fugitives worth about Rs 17,874 crore have been sealed and the new justice codes have also opened a way to take legal action against them. We have also created a systematic mechanism for cyber crimes, Modi ji himself is monitoring it. Today 1930 has emerged as a panacea to prevent cyber crimes.
Also said, we have made a roadmap to make India drug free by 2029. We all know that narcotics is a crime which works to destroy our future generations and the dirty money earned through narcotics is also used for terrorism. He said, before 2014, this battle was fought in pieces. They were satisfied with small seizures and arrest of small accused. We made this topic a priority topic for national security from 2019. Our fight against narco has evolved from files and individual agencies to a coordinated and sustained campaign at the national level. So we took action.
