New York. America will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks next week. This long period has changed a lot. But even today the image of Muslims has not changed in American society. According to a Pew Research Center survey, 51% of Americans still view Muslims with suspicion. The Muslim population in America, the number of mosques, and the community's activism have also increased at the political level. But its image of being a violent community remains the same.
Pew Research Center has been conducting surveys from time to time on the status of Muslims in America, the thinking of Americans and the opinions of Muslims themselves. In this year's survey, 43% of American adults believed that Muslims are less patriotic than other citizens, while 42% believed that American Muslims are having a negative impact on the country. The fear of 9/11 is clearly visible behind this. According to the FBI, hate crime cases against Muslims rose to 481 in 2001, up from just 28 in 2000. There have been fluctuations since then (95 in 2021 and 307 in 2016) but the figure has not returned to pre-9/11 levels. Compared to Democrats, Republicans are more likely to believe that Muslims are more violent.

There has been no less than 38% negative process in two and a half decades
In March 2002, just six months after the al-Qaeda attacks, 25% of American adults said Muslims were more likely to encourage violence than people of other religions. After this, in 11 different surveys this figure never went below 38%. In the last decade it has remained between 45% and 52%.
Nearly half (51%) of American adults surveyed earlier this year said Muslims promote violence more. The population of the Muslim community and the number of mosques in America have increased over the years. In the year 2007, there were about 24 lakh Muslims in America, whereas now this number has increased to 55 lakh. Similarly, in the year 2000 there were about 1,200 mosques in America, whose number has now increased to 2,800.
