The Indian Under-19 team is going to play a series of 3 Youth ODI and 2 Youth Test matches against Australia this month. This series will start from September 18 in Rajkot, for which Team India has been announced. Virender Sehwag's son Aryaveer Sehwag and Rahul Dravid's son Anvay Dravid have been selected in India's Youth ODI team.
Due to the selection of sons of legends like Sehwag-Dravid, all eyes are on the series against Australia. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) banned Rohit Yadav, who was selected in the Youth ODI and Youth Test team, for 2 years.
Why was Rohit Yadav banned?
Leg spinner Rohit Yadav has been banned for age fraud. Rohit Yadav's cheating has been caught in the pre-season documentation drive of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). CAB has said that a difference of 27 months has been found in the age of Rohit, after which action was taken against him. Rohit Yadav's name has been removed from the Indian Under-19 team selected against Australia. All the state units associated with BCCI have also been informed about their ban. Rohit Yadav had also gone on a tour of Sri Lanka with the Indian Under-19 team in July this year.
Apart from Rohit Yadav, 64 players were also caught.
Apart from Rohit Yadav, 64 other players have also been caught in the age fraud case in CAB's documentation drive. Ravi Kumar is also included in these. Ravi Kumar was a part of the Indian team that won the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. He took 4 wickets against England in the final. Left arm fast bowler Ravi Kumar has also played for the senior Bengal team. There is a difference of more than 40 months in the age of Ravi.
