Business Desk – BIG EPFO Update: There is important news for the members of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Now many tasks to PF can be done from mobile sitting at home. The government's UMANG app is very useful for this.
The special thing is that the facility of UAN activation and creation of new UAN is now available on UMANG app through Aadhaar based face authentication. On the official portal of EPFO, members are also being given information about UAN activation and how to use UMANG app for new UAN.
The Labor Ministry and EPFO are continuously increasing digital facilities, so that employees do not have to visit the EPFO office for small tasks. Many services to PF balance, passbook, claims and UAN can be used through UMANG app.
- UAN activation and new UAN from UMANG
If your UAN is created but not activated, then it can be activated through UMANG app. Whereas new employees who do not have UAN can also generate and activate it as per the prescribed procedure. For this, Aadhaar number and mobile number linked to Aadhaar are necessary.
You have to go to EPFO Services in UMANG app and select the option of UAN Services Through Face Auth. After this, you will have to fill the required information by choosing the option of UAN Activation or UAN Allotment and Activation. After OTP verification, Aadhaar based face authentication will have to be completed. After successful process UAN will be activated.
- Can update KYC of PF account
EPFO members can use KYC facilities through UMANG app. Information like Aadhaar, PAN and bank account are important in KYC. However, it is not necessary that the facility of all types of KYC changes be available in the same way. In some cases, employer approval may be required. Therefore, before updating KYC, please check the information and documents entered in your EPFO account.
- View PF passbook from mobile
If you want to know how much money has been deposited in your PF account till now, then UMANG app is very useful. Through this, members can see their PF passbook and get information about the amount deposited in the account and transactions. The facility to view passbook is also available in the online services of EPFO, through which employees can keep an eye on the status of their PF account.
- Also check claim status
Digital facility is also available to know the status of PF claim after making it. Through the UMANG app, members can access claim services and check the status of their application. Along with claim services, other PF facilities are also available on the app.
Why is the change in UAN activation important?
Earlier the process of UAN activation was also done through the member portal of EPFO. Now in the existing system, for UAN activation and creation of new UAN, UMANG app and Aadhaar based face authentication will have to be used. Information about this change has also been given on the member portal of EPFO.
That means UMANG app has now become more important than ever for PF account holders. From UAN activation to facilities like passbook and claims, many important tasks can be done from mobile. This will reduce the need for employees to go to office for general PF work.
