UP Special TET 2026: Applications for the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET)—intended for teachers currently employed in schools for classes 1 to 8 in Uttar Pradesh—have commenced today, September 5. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission recently issued the notification for the exam.

Candidates can submit their applications and fees until October 4, 2026. The deadline for making corrections to the application is October 8, while the Special TET examination is scheduled to be held on November 3, 2026.

Who is eligible to apply for the Special TET?
This exam differs from the standard TET; it is being conducted specifically to provide an opportunity for currently employed teachers to clear the TET.

Teachers working at the primary and upper primary levels are eligible to apply.
Additionally, special educators (for Children with Special Needs—CWSN) may also apply for the exam.

Following a Supreme Court order, it has become mandatory for teachers appointed prior to 2010 to pass the TET. There are over 1.80 lakh council school teachers employed in the state. Of these, approximately one lakh teachers succeeded in the UPTET results declared on August 26. However, more than 80,000 council teachers still need to pass the TET to continue in service.

OTR required before applying
The application process for the Special TET begins with One-Time Registration (OTR). Candidates must first visit the Commission's website to complete their OTR. Subsequently, they can apply for the exam using the login credentials obtained.

While filling out the form, candidates must carefully enter details such as their name, address, date of birth, educational qualifications, and other exam-related options. It is essential to verify all information against original documents before submitting the application. According to the official application manual, no changes to the application will be permitted after final submission.

When can candidates apply?
Candidates can apply online for the Special TET starting September 5, 2026. The deadline for submitting applications and fees is October 4, 2026.
Subsequently, a window for application corrections will be available until October 8, 2026.
The examination is scheduled to be held on November 3, 2026.

Which documents should be kept ready for the application?
Before applying, candidates should have documents related to their educational qualifications ready. The final mark sheet or degree/certificate corresponding to the qualification upon which eligibility is claimed will be required. During the application process, the relevant mark sheet must be uploaded.

Additionally, keep a passport-sized photograph and a digital copy of your signature ready. When entering personal information, ensure that your name, date of birth, and other details match your original documents exactly.

What points should be kept in mind while applying?
Candidates must fill in all details carefully during the application process. In particular, ensure that details regarding name, date of birth, educational qualifications, and employment match the original documents. Thoroughly review the entire form before final submission, as no changes will be permitted once the application has been finally submitted.

This TET presents a significant opportunity for working teachers to fulfill the mandatory TET requirement. Therefore, eligible teachers should complete the OTR (One Time Registration) and the application process well in advance, rather than waiting until the deadline.
