A Kolkata missionary school teacher was suspended and booked after a student alleged she repeatedly wiped his tilak before he entered school. The action followed intervention by West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari, who also ordered action against an education department employee over alleged derogatory remarks about PM Modi.

Kolkata: Prodded by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, a private missionary school in Kolkata suspended a teacher following an allegation that she repeatedly removed a sandalwood mark (tilak) from the forehead of a young student, an official said on Friday.

An FIR was also registered against the teacher.

The incident came to light after a video surfaced on social media in which the student alleged that a teacher at the school would wipe off the tilak applied to his forehead before entering the institution.
