Fabian Hurzeler has said that Yankuba Minteh could complete a move to Liverpool in the next transfer window.

Liverpool target Yankuba Minteh could make the switch to Anfield in January, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has revealed.

The Reds reached the end of deadline day without bringing in a replacement for recently departed Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah.

Andoni Iraola's side added Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola to their attacking options; however, neither is a natural right winger. Now, the Brighton boss has indicated that Minteh could secure his move in the next transfer window if both he and the team perform successfully.

Liverpool were also in the market for Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, but that move did not materialise either, leaving him needing time to recover emotionally.

Experienced attacker Cody Gakpo was heavily linked with Manchester City in the final days of the window, but the Reds decided to keep the winger to offer extra cover on the right flank.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference before Brighton's clash with Leeds United this weekend, Hurzeler said Minteh may get his move in January.

"[Minteh] wears the Brighton colours, he wears the Brighton badge - he's been here for two years now," the German told reporters.

"We've achieved great things together. Therefore, it's also about him now to commit.

"In the end, we always say we want to be successful as a club, but then you can [also] shine as individuals. If we achieve things together, then attention will come to those players.

"This will be the case this season; if the whole team is successful, then Yankuba will maybe fulfil his dream in the next transfer window," Hurzeler concluded.

Replacing Salah was always going to be a huge challenge for Liverpool, but Minteh's Premier League-proven quality was clearly attractive to Iraola's side in this window.

The Brighton attacker recorded seven goal involvements in 34 English top-flight matches last season, and 10 in 32 in the previous campaign.
