Richarlison’s move to the Super Lig outfit is drawing closer, with the Brazilian in line to join Trabzonspor.
Richarlison’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain, with the 29-year-old edging nearer to a transfer to Super Lig side Trabzonspor.
Earlier this week, the Brazilian turned down a return to Everton, and later posted on social media that talks with the Toffees had collapsed.
Now, Richarlison could link up with Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah, with the clock running down on Super Lig deadline day.
The Brazilian was recently left out of Spurs’ 25-man squad list, with manager Roberto De Zerbi confirming that Richarlison had “said too many times that he wants to leave.”
Earlier this week, Turkish transfer specialist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported that Richarlison had verbally agreed to join Trabzonspor, and the move has since advanced further.
September 4 is the Super Lig transfer deadline, and only a few hours remain for the Turkish top-flight club to complete a deal for the Brazilian.
Sabuncuoglu gave an update yesterday evening that made clear just how close Trabzonspor are to completing the transfer.
“Trabzonspor will finalise the Richarlison transfer if they can send one foreign player from their squad before the transfer window closes,” he wrote.
“Otherwise, the transfer will be cancelled,” Sabuncuoglu added. The Super Lig deadline day comes to an end this evening at 11:59pm BST.
Trabzonspor have recently brought in another striker as they try to stop Galatasaray from winning a remarkable fifth straight Turkish top-flight title.
That player is Franculino Dju, who arrived from Danish Superliga side Midtjylland in a transfer worth nearly £15 million.
Trabzonspor seem to be quietly putting together a strong forward line, spearheaded by Liverpool legend Salah, who has scored three in three domestic matches for the club this season.
According to ESPN Brazil, the Egyptian personally called Richarlison in an effort to persuade him to join the Turkish top-flight team.
That report also states that Spurs have turned down a €20 million bid for their Brazilian forward, which suggests a transfer fee may still not have been agreed.
Richarlison, who is currently training with Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-21s squad, is pushing strongly to complete the move.
The Athletic reported yesterday that Spurs had rejected an offer from Trabzonspor, adding that there was no certainty the Turkish club would return with another attempt.
According to Sabuncuoglu, however, the deal appears to have moved on since then, with time running out on Super Lig deadline day.
