Patna. There is a good opportunity for meritorious students from economically weak families to get scholarship. The application process for the National Income-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) is going on for the academic session 2026-27. Eligible students can apply on the National Scholarship Portal till 30 September.
The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to such promising students, whose studies may be affected after 8th due to weak financial condition of their family. Receiving scholarships helps students to continue further education.
Help of ₹ 12 thousand every year
Under the scheme, selected students are given an annual scholarship of ₹ 12,000. Every year one lakh scholarships are provided for class 9th. To continue the scholarship in further classes, it is necessary to meet the prescribed academic performance.
Who can apply?
To avail the benefit of this scheme, the annual income of the student's parents should not exceed ₹ 3.50 lakh. Students are selected through prescribed examination. SC and ST category students are given a relaxation of 5 percent in the minimum marks eligibility.
Students must complete One-Time Registration (OTR) before applying. After this, scholarship can be applied for on the National Scholarship Portal.
