New Delhi: Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. PM Modi had congratulated him for making the record of serving as the longest continuous Prime Minister in Italy after the Second World War. Meloni, in response, said that today the relations between India and Italy have become stronger than ever and both the countries are taking the strategic partnership to new heights.
What did Meloni say on the congratulatory message?
Responding to PM Modi’s wishes, Meloni posted on X. He wrote, Dear Narendra Modi, thank you for your words and your friendship. Today, relations between Italy and India are stronger than ever.
He said that the special strategic partnership formed between the two countries is a proof of how much importance both the countries give to their relations. This partnership, which began during their last meeting, reflects the desire of both countries to create new development opportunities by bringing together the expertise of both countries.
Emphasizing on connectivity, Meloni said, I am confident that Italy and India will continue to strengthen the relationship between our continents and work together to develop the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. He described increasing connectivity between Europe and India through IMEC as very important.
PM Modi had congratulated on the historic achievement
Earlier on Friday, PM Modi had congratulated Meloni. He wrote on This achievement shows the trust and confidence of the Italian people in his leadership.
PM Modi praised Meloni’s role in strengthening the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership and said he looked forward to maintaining close cooperation with Italy. He also wished them continued success in the years to come.
Meloni broke Berlusconi’s record
It is noteworthy that Georgia Meloni is the Prime Minister of Italy from 22 October 2022. On Thursday, he completed 1,413 consecutive days and broke the record of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. She became the first female Prime Minister of Italy when she assumed office in 2022. His government marked the return to power of the post-Fascist right in Italy, which initially raised some concerns among European allies and markets, but his stable government is now seen as a major achievement.
