Embarking on an extraordinary cross-country expedition, Balakrishna drove his three-wheeler all the way from Bengaluru to Umling La in Ladakh, covering a staggering distance of 8,000 kilometers over 24 grueling days and scaling heights of up to 19,000 feet.

Leaving behind the bustling tech corridors of Bengaluru from Vidhana Soudha with essential supplies, food, and sleeping gear packed tightly into his vehicle, Balakrishna faced extreme trials along the way. Battling severe weather, freezing temperatures, treacherous unpaved mountain roads, repeated tire punctures, and fuel shortages—including switching seamlessly from CNG to petrol when supplies ran dry—he persevered against all odds. Despite spending approximately ₹48,000 on the entire expedition, his unwavering focus remained on accomplishing the impossible.

Balakrishna’s monumental journey was driven by a powerful desire to break stereotypes and prove that a humble autorickshaw is capable of taking on the world’s most challenging high-altitude routes. To prepare for the mammoth trip, he had sold his previous auto to purchase a second-hand model, converting its commercial yellow registration to a white plate for personal travel. By successfully cresting Umling La, Balakrishna Mohan has transformed an ordinary three-wheeler into a legendary symbol of adventure, inspiring millions across the country.
