How to make fasting sago mixture?
Start by frying sago
First of all, put desi ghee or peanut oil in a pan and heat it. After the oil is heated, keep the flame on medium and add sago in small quantities and fry. When the sago starts rising and becomes nicely crispy, take it out and keep it aside. While frying sago, do not keep the flame very low, because due to this it may appear cooked from outside but may remain hard from inside.
Fry Peanuts and Dry Fruits
Now reduce the flame of the gas in the same oil and add peanuts and fry till they become light golden. After this, add chopped cashews and almonds and fry them till they become slightly crisp.
Make makhana and green things crispy
Now add makhana in the remaining oil and fry till it becomes crisp. Finally add finely chopped green chillies and curry leaves and fry until they become crispy. Take these out also and keep them aside.
mix everything together
Now add fried sago, peanuts, makhana, cashew-almonds, green chillies and curry leaves in a big vessel. Mix everything well. After this, add rock salt and black pepper powder as per taste and mix again. If you like light sour taste in namkeen and dry mango powder is consumed during your fast, then you can add small quantity of dry mango powder. If you want, you can also add a little ground sugar for taste.
cool and store
After the sago mixture is ready, let it cool completely. After it cools down, store it in an airtight container. In this way, whenever you feel like eating something crisp and salty during the fast, you can enjoy this mixture prepared at home.
The rules regarding the ingredients and spices used in the fast may differ from family to family. Therefore, use dry mango powder, sugar candy or other ingredients as per your fasting tradition.
