KNews Desk: After a long wait, Kia launched its premium SUV in the Indian market. sorento Has been launched. Starting price of new Kia Sorento ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom) has been kept, while the price of its top model ₹40.39 lakh (ex-showroom) Goes till. The company has introduced this SUV with both diesel and hybrid powertrains. The special thing is that customers will get options of 6 and 7 seats in it. At the same time, the option of all-wheel drive i.e. AWD is also given in select high-spec variants.

The Kia Sorento range starts with the 7-seater HTE diesel variant, which is priced at ₹27.99 lakh. The diesel powertrain features a Smartstream D2.2 engine, which is paired with an 8-speed DCT gearbox. This engine is available in 6 and 7 seat configurations. The price of the 7-seater diesel model ranges from ₹ 27.99 lakh to ₹ 38.69 lakh depending on the variant. Talking about the 6-seater diesel variant, it starts with the HTK trim, which is priced at ₹ 32.69 lakh. Whereas, the price of HTX(A) Black Line AWD variant goes up to ₹38.89 lakh. That means customers get the option of features like more space, premium features and AWD as per their need.

The company has also introduced Kia Sorento with hybrid powertrain. In this Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi Hybrid Engine Available, which is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The starting price of the 7-seater hybrid version is ₹29.49 lakh for the HTE trim. Whereas, the price of HTX(A) Black Line AWD variant goes up to ₹ 40.19 lakh. Prices for the 6-seater hybrid model start at ₹34.19 lakh for the HTK variant and go up to ₹40.39 lakh for the top HTX(A) Black Line AWD variant. The 6 and 7 seat options in the new Sorento cater to customers who want more passenger capacity with a premium SUV. The 6-seater model is expected to get captain seats in the second row, providing more comfort and personal space to the rear passengers. Whereas the 7-seater layout can prove to be more useful for large families.

Talking about the features, Kia Sorento has been introduced with a modern and premium cabin. The SUV comes with features like large infotainment display, digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and premium interior. Advanced safety features like ADAS and Black Line package are also available in the higher variants. Kia Sorento will compete mainly with Toyota Fortuner and other premium 7-seater SUVs in the Indian market. With a starting price of ₹27.99 lakh, diesel and hybrid engines, 6-7 seating options and features like AWD, the Sorento could strengthen Kia's position in the premium SUV segment.
