Karauli – With the aim of preserving the environment and promoting green cover in the district, the 77th district level Van Mahotsav was organized on Thursday at Bijalpur Nursery located near Bijalpur village. In the program, District Incharge Secretary and Tourism Department Secretary Shuchi Tyagi planted a banyan tree and gave the message of environmental protection and maximum tree plantation.
In-charge Secretary Shuchi Tyagi said that by giving Van Mahotsav the form of a public campaign, maximum plantation should be done. He said that to achieve the goal of environmental protection, active participation of the general public is necessary. Only through collective efforts can the green cover in the district be increased and the legacy of a clean and safe environment can be handed over to the coming generations.
He honored the Forest Department personnel and 22 forest workers and wildlife conservators who did excellent work in the field of wildlife conservation.

Sapling planted in the name of Mother Yashoda on Shri Krishna Janmashtami

On the occasion of Van Mahotsav, saplings of various species were planted in the name of ‘Maa Yashoda’ to commemorate Shri Krishna Janmashtami. These included many species including Banyan, Kadamba, Kalpavriksha and Bilvapatra. Through tree plantation, the message of deep connection between Indian culture and nature along with environmental protection was also given.
District Collector Akshay Godara said that there is a need to create widespread awareness in the society regarding environmental protection. He said that sensitivity towards the environment should be developed in children and youth by connecting them with nature, so that the coming generation can understand the importance of a clean and balanced environment.
He appealed to the people of the district to plant more and more saplings and ensure their regular care and protection. He said that planting a sapling would be meaningful only when the responsibility for it is taken and it is kept safe till it becomes a tree.

Information given about the action plan of Forest Department:

In the program, Conservator of Forest Department, Forest Department, Omprakash Jangid gave detailed information about the plantation done so far in the district and the upcoming action plan of the department. He also informed about the efforts being made to increase the green area in the district, to conserve plants and to accelerate environmental protection through public participation.
On this occasion, Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sonwal, District Legal Services Authority Secretary Pratap Singh Meena, Forest Conservator and District Incharge of Forest Department Hari Kishan Saraswat, Forest Conservator Sanjeev Sharma, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations Department Dharmendra Meena and officers and employees of various departments were present.
During the program, officers, forest workers and other participants planted more than 500 saplings. Through Van Mahotsav, a message of collective responsibility was given for making the district green and eco-friendly and preserving plants.
