The Magic have signed free agent guards Big Branham and JD Davisonthe team announced today (link to press release).

While the terms of the two agreements were not disclosed, Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel previously reported that Branham would be signing an Exhibit 10 contract with Orlando and he confirms Davison is on an Exhibit 10 deal too (Twitter link).

Branham spent three years with the Spurs, who drafted him 20th overall in 2022, prior to being traded to the Wizards in the 2025 offseason. He was dealt to Charlotte in February and was subsequently waived by the Hornets.

The 23-year-old finished last season in the G League with the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ affiliate team. He appeared in 28 games with Washington last season, averaging 4.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 9.8 minutes per contest.

Branham holds career NBA averages of 8.0 PPG, 2.0 RPG and 1.6 APG on .441/.339/.840 shooting splits in 216 games, including 61 starts (17.8 MPG).

Davison, who turns 24 years old in October, had his non-guaranteed contract waived last month by Houston.

The 53rd overall pick in the 2022 draft, Davison spent his first three NBA seasons on two-way contracts with the Celtics but appeared in just 36 total regular season games for Boston, averaging 5.5 minutes per contest.

Davison saw a bit more action in 2025/26 on a two-way deal with the Rockets, but still played just 7.8 MPG in 28 outings, averaging 2.5 points, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 rebounds per game on .375/.250/.684 shooting. The 23-year-old was promoted to the standard roster prior to the postseason and saw garbage-time action in a pair of playoff games.

The former Alabama guard has made a far more significant impact in the G League, particularly in 2024/25, when he earned G League MVP honors with the Maine Celtics. In 45 total NBAGL appearances that season, he averaged 25.6 points, 7.7 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 34.6 minutes per game.

It’s worth noting that Branham and Davison both have four years of NBA experience, so neither player is eligible for a two-way contract. If they’re waived before the season begins, they would be eligible for a bonus worth up to $91K if they spend at least 60 days with the Osceola Magic, Orlando’s NBAGL affiliate.

The Magic now have 13 players on guaranteed contracts, with Jamal Cain on a standard non-guaranteed deal and Branham and Davison on Exhibit 10 pacts for training camp.

While Branham or Davison could theoretically earn the Magic’s 15th standard roster spot if they perform well in camp and the preseason, Orlando would be just $47K below the second tax apron if it keeps Cain and one of the two guards. In other words, the Magic seem likely to open the season with 14 players on standard contracts.
