Age will no longer be a barrier for those wishing to study at Delhi University (DU). The university has opened applications under the ‘Continuing Education Scheme’ (CES), allowing individuals of various ages to pursue select courses.

Age will no longer stand in the way of those aspiring to study at Delhi University. The university has launched applications under the CES, enabling people from diverse age groups and professions to study specific courses. Notably, there is no requirement to enroll in a full degree program. Eligible candidates can enroll in specific papers of their choice and attend classes alongside regular students. DU has introduced this initiative under the banner “Any Course, Any Age.” Its objective is to reconnect individuals with education who were previously unable to complete their studies for various reasons.

Applications Open Year-Round

DU has launched a dedicated portal for CES applications. Interested candidates can visit ces.du.ac.in to view available papers, eligibility criteria, admission rules, and other relevant information. According to the university, the registration and admission process under this scheme remains open throughout the year. Classes for CES students will commence in accordance with the academic calendar of the semester in which the chosen paper is being taught. As seats are limited, candidates are advised to apply promptly after checking the availability of papers and seat status.

Who Can Enroll?

Candidates may apply for a specific paper under the CES only if they meet the minimum qualifications and prerequisites prescribed for that paper. The absence of an upper age limit does not imply that anyone can directly enroll in any paper; specific qualification and eligibility criteria apply to each course. Candidates will be selected based on merit, subject to seat availability. For the purpose of determining merit, the candidates’ age may be considered alongside the marks obtained in the relevant qualifying examination.

Maximum of Two Papers per Semester

Under the CES, candidates may take a maximum of two papers or eight credits per semester, whichever limit is reached first. Both papers must belong to the same discipline. Seats allocated under this scheme will be considered supernumerary (additional) seats. The number of such seats is capped at 10 percent of the sanctioned intake capacity of any given class; therefore, CES seats may not necessarily be available for every paper.

CES Students to Study Alongside Regular Students

A key feature of this scheme is that classes for papers selected under the CES will not be held separately from those for regular students. Candidates will attend classes for the chosen paper alongside regular students and must adhere to the academic regulations governing that paper. The medium of instruction and the mode of conducting classes applicable to regular students will also apply to CES students. Similarly, the evaluation process for the paper will be conducted in the same manner as it is for regular students. The scheme is not restricted to individuals who are currently unemployed; working professionals may also apply under the CES, although employed candidates are required to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

Fee of ₹6,100 per Paper

Under the current CES fee structure, the fee for a single paper is set at ₹6,100. While candidates may opt for up to two papers, the eight-credit limit remains applicable. Following admission, candidates are required to attend classes for the respective paper and complete the prescribed evaluation process.
