Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently invited applications on LinkedIn for the fielding coach post. The message read, “The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking an experienced and skilled Fielding Coach to join the Pakistan Men’s National Cricket Team. The Fielding Coach will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing the fielding skills of Pakistan National Team Players.”
The fans reacted to the post and even sent their resumes. It soon became meme material on social media. Veteran English star and former skipper If Buttler reacted to the same while appearing on the “For The Love Of Cricket” Podcast alongside Stuart Broad.
The 36-year-old said, “I was trying to defend it, but Pakistan seems to have gone to a modern tactic in recruiting their next fielding coach and placed an advert on LinkedIn. All the sides have to do the same in this day and age. Maybe the English side does the same. I don’t know.”
Former Australian opener rubs salt into Pakistan’s wounds
Usman Khawajawho was born in Pakistan but went on to play cricket for Australia, took a dig at Aaqib Javed after the latter’s appearance on Geo TV. Javed had famously said that the world was laughing at Pakistan cricket, to which Khawaja replied on social media, “The world is laughing harder now.” He added a laughing emoji.
Aaqib was not pleased when Ubaid Shah wasn’t picked for the Lord’s Test despite urging Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed to go ahead with the player. “When decisions aren’t taken according to plans and messages conveyed, it is not the right way of running a team,” he said.
He also added, “We cannot keep waiting, and we spoke to the captain and coach after the first Test match and suggested the inclusion of Ubaid Shah, who can bowl at 140 KPH. Salman was rightly rested, and Ghazi Ghori, who was available, should have been in the team in place of Mohammad Rizwan.”
PCB decided to send back seven players, including Mohammad RizwanSalman Agha, and Imam-ul-Haq, who is set to be probed for faking his injury. Saim Ayub has been called up to the side along with Razaullah, Saad Baig, Arafat Minhas, and two others.
