Kavach System on Railway Tracks: It has been informed by the government that under Kavach 4.0, Kavach system will be installed on the remaining 712 route kilometers of Moradabad division of Northern Railway. According to the Railway Ministry, the security infrastructure will be strengthened by installing indigenous ‘Kavach 4.0’ system with the sanctioned amount.
Automatic Train Protection Expansion: Rail network is considered the biggest means of transport. This is the reason why every day lakhs of people travel long distances by Indian Railways. Traveling by train is comfortable, but many times passengers suffer loss of life due to sudden accidents. Keeping such accidents in mind, the government is going to start a new initiative. For this, Indian Railways has approved Rs 170 crore for the deployment of ‘Kavach 4.0’ system.
Armor system will be installed on 712 km track
It has been informed by the government that under Kavach 4.0, the Kavach system will be installed on the remaining 712 route kilometers of Moradabad division of Northern Railway. According to the Railway Ministry, the security infrastructure will be strengthened by installing indigenous ‘Kavach 4.0’ system with the sanctioned amount. With this modern layer of security, train operation on the identified routes will be safe and accidents will reduce.
How does the armor system work?
- This is an automatic machine made in India, which makes train travel safe.
- If a train crosses the red signal by mistake, this system stops it.
- This machine automatically stops the train in case of danger or if the driver does not apply brakes.
- It controls the speed of the train in bad weather and prevents two trains from colliding with each other.
Reduction in railway accidents
According to the Railway Ministry, security in Indian Railways travel has increased significantly in the last few years. In the year 2014-15, where a total of 135 railway accidents took place. Whereas in 2025-26, this number has come down to only 16 and till June this year only two accidents have occurred. In this way, there has been a huge decline of about 91 percent in the index of accidents per million kilometers, which shows a big improvement in the field of safety.
