Manchester United completed several loan moves during the summer transfer window.

A number of academy prospects, including Jacob Devaney, Dan Gore and Jack Moorhouse, are set to test themselves in the professional game.

Jayce Fitzgerald joined League Two side Rotherham United and will now get the chance to experience his first senior loan spell in adult football.

The Salford-born midfielder is capable of operating either in a deeper role or further forward in midfield, and he will be aiming to pick up valuable experience during his loan stint with the Millers in League Two.

Dan Gore and Gabriele Biancheri both turned out for Rotherham on loan last season.

The 19-year-old was introduced from the bench for 22 minutes in Rotherham’s 2-2 draw against Tranmere Rovers.

The youngster did not register any key passes, but he still completed 89% of his passes overall in a neat display in central midfield.

He also posed some threat going forward, managing a shot on target, although it was well blocked by the Tranmere defence.

The midfielder also looked to drive the ball forward, but succeeded with only one of his three dribble attempts. Even so, he progressed the ball by a total of 77.2m during his limited spell on the pitch.

Fitzgerald did not manage to make any tackles, but he still covered ground well in the short time he was on the field.

He was involved in nine duels and came out on top in three of them. It is only natural that he will need time to adjust to the pace of senior football, but his willingness to compete so often in such a brief cameo should stand him in good stead.

The Carrington graduate will now be hoping to earn a start when the Millers face Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.
