Aadhaar Card Update Rules: The Aadhaar card has become an essential part of daily life, serving as more than just an identity document. It is required for everything from opening a bank account and availing benefits of government schemes to purchasing a new mobile SIM card. Therefore, it is crucial that the information recorded in Aadhaar is accurate and up-to-date.

According to the rules set by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), there are limits on how many times specific details in your Aadhaar can be updated. Here is a breakdown of the limits for changing various details:

Home Address: There is no limit on changing the home address on an Aadhaar card. If you move to a new city or house, you can update your address as often as necessary.

Name: You can update the name on your Aadhaar card only twice. Therefore, ensure you carefully check the spelling when making a change.

Date of Birth: Corrections to the date of birth in Aadhaar can be made only once. Valid documentation is mandatory for this change.

Mobile Number and Email: There is no limit on changing your mobile number or email ID. If your old number is deactivated, you can link a new number as many times as needed.

Update Process
Address Change: Visit the myAadhaar portal and log in. Click on the 'Update Address' option, enter the new address, and upload a valid document. This process may take 30 to 90 days.

Mobile Number: To change your mobile number, you must visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Alternatively, you can link a new number using the UIDAI app via OTP and face authentication.

Aadhaar Update Fees
According to UIDAI rules, a fee of ₹75 per service is charged for updating demographic details such as name, address, date of birth, gender, or mobile number in Aadhaar.
