Domestic equity markets opened lower on Wednesday with benchmark indices falling in the third trading session of the week. Sensex opened 0.61% lower, while Nifty 50 opened 0.82% lower.

BSE Sensex opened 472.96 points or 0.61% lower at 76,471.32. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty 50 index opened 197.80 points or 0.82% lower at 23,858.00.

The Indian stock market also closed with a decline on Tuesday. At the beginning of Wednesday’s session, selling pressure was seen across the market, with shares of companies in IT, banking, auto, power and FMCG sectors trading with losses.

On Wednesday, all 30 Sensex stocks opened with a decline. Indigo was the biggest loser among Sensex constituents, opening 2.19% lower. Infosys was the second loser with a decline of 1.69%, while NTPC and Asian Paints opened down 1.54% and 1.35% respectively.

BEL opened 1.33% lower, while Mahindra & Mahindra fell 1.25%. Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv opened down 1.24% and 1.23% respectively.

TCS opened 1.16% lower, while HDFC Bank fell 1.10%. ICICI Bank opened 0.76% lower and Axis Bank opened 0.62% lower.

Other prominent stocks opened with Tata Steel falling 0.95%, Maruti Suzuki falling 0.93%, SBI falling 0.90%, Eternal falling 0.87% and Hindustan Unilever falling 0.85%.

UltraTech Cement opened 0.82% lower, while Mahindra & Mahindra fell 1.25%.

Reliance Industries opened 0.65% lower, while Bharti Airtel fell 0.49% and Adani Ports fell 0.46%.

Sun Pharma opened 0.44% lower, HCL Tech fell 0.31%, Power Grid fell 0.30% and Tech Mahindra fell 0.12%. Among Sensex constituents, Trent saw the smallest decline, opening down around 0.04%.
