Saharanpur. The process of finding fake notes has not stopped. This time it is a matter of finding fake notes in the currency chests of the bank itself. Fake notes worth Rs 17 crore were found during audit in the currency chest of Sophia Market branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Saharanpur. Three managers have been suspended in this case. Saharanpur SSP Abhinandan says that a case has been registered against the three managers of PNB and the part time house keeping person.
According to the news of Dainik Jagran newspaper, Vishal Kumar, who works part time house keeping in Sophia Market branch of PNB, was given the responsibility of putting bundles of mutilated notes in the currency chest a few days ago. Then Rs 11.5 crore was sent from PNB branch in Jaipur to RBI. When counting was done there, Rs 430900 less was found. This information was given to PNB Meerut's zonal head Ajay Kumar Tibrewal. On this, Chief Manager Arun Kumar Choubey was sent to Saharanpur for investigation. During investigation, when CCTV was seen, it was found that Vishal took out notes from the bundles. After this, it was found in the audit that fake currency was kept in the chest.
When the investigation team examined the bundles in the currency chest of PNB, they found that one genuine note was placed at the top and the other genuine note was placed at the bottom. In the complaint given to the police, Chief Manager Arun Kumar Choubey has said that fake notes worth Rs 17 crore have been found. He asked senior zonal manager Ravi Kumar Kanse, currency chest manager Sushil Kumar and currency chest manager Amit Kumar, who had gone to Jagadhri, Haryana from PNB branch. When correct answers were not received, a case was registered against all three. The audit of the amount kept in the currency chest is still going on. After the investigation is over, it will be known whether there are any more fake notes in the currency chest.
