Southern Railway has started the online application process for recruitment to a total of 4,471 apprentice posts. 10th, 12th or ITI passed eligible candidates can apply through the official website till 27 September 2026. Candidates will be selected for recruitment from the merit list prepared on the basis of educational qualification.

This recruitment is a useful opportunity for those youth who want to gain training and experience in the technical field through apprenticeship in Railways. According to different trades and posts, candidates have been asked to have the qualification of passing 10th, 12th or ITI.

10th, 12th and ITI pass candidates can apply

The educational qualification for apprentice posts has been determined according to the trade and post. For the respective posts, the candidate must have passed 10th, 12th or ITI.

Talking about age limit, the minimum age of the candidate should not be less than 15 years. The maximum age limit is fixed at 22 or 24 years according to the post. Reserved category candidates will get relaxation in maximum age limit as per government rules.

The application fee has been fixed at Rs 100 for General, OBC and EWS category candidates. Whereas SC, ST, PwD and women candidates of all categories have been exempted from the application fee.

To apply, candidates must first visit the official website of Southern Railway. On the home page of the website, you will have to click on the link to Act Apprentice 2026-27. After this, you will have to complete the registration by entering the necessary information through the registration link.

After registration, you will have to login and fill other information asked in the application form. If application fee is applicable as per the category of the candidate, it has to be paid online. After checking all the information, submit the form and keep its printout safe for future use.

Selection will be based on merit, not examination and interview.

No written examination or interview will be conducted for the selection of candidates in this Apprentice recruitment of Southern Railway. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their educational qualification. After this the selected candidates will be called for document verification.

Candidates successful in the process of document verification will be selected for apprenticeship on the respective vacant posts. Therefore, while applying, it will be important to fill the information entered in the educational certificate and other important documents correctly.

Selected candidates will get stipend

During apprenticeship, stipend will be given to the selected candidates as per the prescribed rules. According to the available information, fresher candidates will get a stipend of Rs 8,200 per month. For fresher 12th pass candidates, this amount is fixed at Rs 9,600 per month, while Ex-ITI candidates will also be given a stipend of Rs 9,600 per month.
