New Delhi. In the semi-finals of Duleep Trophy on Tuesday, East Zone defeated defending champions Central Zone by 4 wickets. With this, the team made it to the finals, where it will face the winning team of the second semi-final.

East Zone had a target of 159 runs to win, which the team achieved in 80.1 overs on the third day of the test match. Captain Ishan Kishan returned unbeaten after scoring 39 runs and Mohammed Shami after scoring 8 runs. Team vice-captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi played an inning of 40 runs. Vaibhav had scored 92 runs with 7 fours and 7 sixes in the first innings.

Central Zone had lost 3 wickets for 37 runs.

Central Zone had a bad start and the team lost three wickets for 37 runs. Captain Rajat Patidar could score only 5 runs and Rinku Singh could score only 20 runs. After losing 7 wickets for 95 runs, Arshad Khan along with the lower order took the team beyond 150 runs. However, the team was limited to 158 runs only. Aman Mokhade scored the highest score of 41 runs for the team. Arshad Khan played an inning of 25 runs and Harsh Dubey played an inning of 24 runs.

4 wickets for Mukesh Kumar, 3 wickets for Shami

Mukesh Kumar was the most successful bowler from East Zone. He took 4 wickets for 44 runs in 12 overs. Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets, while Abhijeet Sarkar, Anukul Roy and Qunain Qureshi took 1 wicket each.

Shami completed 900 wickets

Mohammed Shami made a big record on the first day of Duleep Trophy semi-finals. Shami, playing for East Zone, completed his 900 wickets in professional cricket by taking 3 wickets against Central Zone. He became only the sixth Indian bowler to achieve this feat. Shami achieved this milestone at the age of 36.

Suryavanshi's half century in the first innings from East Zone

The first innings of Central Zone and East Zone were tied. Both teams scored 266 runs. For East Zone, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 92 runs and Abhimanyu Ishwar scored 69 runs. Both added 161 runs for the first wicket. However, after this East Zone lost all its wickets in the next 104 runs. For Central Zone, Harsh Dubey took 4 wickets, while Aryan Pandey and Yash Thakur took 3-3 wickets.

South Zone all out for 312 runs

South Zone and North Zone are face to face in the second semi-final. On the third day, the South Zone team was all out for 312 runs in the first innings. Captain Tilak Verma played an unbeaten inning of 116 runs. He faced 250 balls and hit 9 fours. Shreyas Gopal scored 87 runs and Narayan Jagadishan scored 36 runs.

South Zone had a bad start. Hrithik Bhui 5 and Sheikh Rashid were out without opening the account. After this Narayan Jagadeesan and Tilak Verma took over the innings. Jagadishan was out after scoring 36 runs, while Tilak along with Shreyas Gopal took the innings forward.

Tilak-Gopal added 176 runs

Tilak Verma and Shreyas Gopal made a partnership of 176 runs for the sixth wicket. Gopal was out after scoring 87 runs. After this, wickets of South Zone kept falling continuously and the team was all out for 312 runs in 100.3 overs.

Gurnoor Brar took 4 wickets

Gurnoor Brar was the most successful bowler from North Zone. He took 4 wickets for 88 runs in 23 overs. Arshdeep Singh and Anshul Kamboj took 2 wickets each, while Abid Mushtaq got 1 wicket.
