The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Shreyas Iyer will lead India, with Tilak Varma appointed as his deputy. Sanju Samson, who was dropped from the Zimbabwe series, has been recalled to the side. Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi are the two other openers in the team.
Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana have been named in the team by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel, but their availability is subject to fitness.
Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi are the two specialist spinners, while Arshdeep Singh is likely to head the pace attack if Bumrah fails to recover from his injury. Axar Patel is the spin all-rounder. Shivam Dube and Ishan Kishan will also play key roles.
Afghanistan will host India in three games, scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
