Supreme Court of India Hearing on NEET Protest : The Supreme Court has given an important order regarding the ongoing student agitation in Delhi and across the country over NEET paper leak. In exercise of its powers under Article 142, the Supreme Court ordered quashing of FIRs filed against the protesting students. A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India heard the case in the Supreme Court.

All FIRs will be cancelled

The Supreme Court has ordered quashing of FIRs filed against students in Delhi, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar. Delhi Police will continue to file FIRs against only those 2,873 persons against whom criminal cases have already been registered. The Chief Justice said that if any state has an FIR which has not yet been informed, that state will not oppose the order to quash that FIR.

No fresh FIRs will be lodged against the students.

While accepting these applications under Section 142, if additional FIRs to the same case are filed in any state, their investigation should be stopped immediately. In its order, the Supreme Court clarified that no new FIRs will be filed against the students who protested against paper leakage and demanded Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.

Prepare compensation policy within three months

According to the Supreme Court's order, the compensation policy for students who committed suicide due to NEET 2026 examination will be framed within three months. This policy should be finalized within three months and compensation should be given.

Along with this, between 20th and 25th July, thousands of students participated in the protest in and around Jantar Mantar. Police registered a total of 13 FIRs. These applications are from Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar and West Bengal and contain details of FIRs. Besides, Delhi Police will file fresh FIRs against 2,873 people with previous criminal background, we are informed. But henceforth no new FIRs will be lodged.

What did Sourav Das say?

While reading the party's statement during the hearing, Saurav Das said that ” Cockroach Janata Partywould like to state that in view of the positive assurances of the Government of India, the judicial sanctity of today's meeting and the order passed by this Court, the CJP Party deems it appropriate to withdraw the call for the September 5 march and hopes that today's order will be complied with. I thank the court for this decision and the lawyers on both sides, including the Solicitor General, for their efforts.”

Chief Justice Suryakant also made an important comment during the hearing. “If both sides show mutual trust, all issues can be resolved one by one. There is nothing difficult in the world that cannot be discussed with an open mind.” He expressed that belief.
