With the beginning of September, monsoon has once again become active with full force across the country. According to the latest bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the cyclonic circulation over the North-West Bay of Bengal and the northward shift of the monsoon trough line, a new round of torrential rains has started in the states of North, East and North-East India. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain, lightning (lightning) and severe thunderstorm in more than 17 states up to Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Manipur in the Northeast. Delhi-NCR: Cloudy cover and intermittent rain till September 4. Rain and thundershowers will continue in the national capital Delhi and surrounding NCR (Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad) till September 4-5. According to the Meteorological Department, between the evening of September 1 and September 3-4, moderate to heavy rain may be recorded in many areas of the capital. During this period, there is a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour and the temperature falling by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, which will provide great relief to the people from the humid heat. Warning of thunderstorm and lightning in UP-Bihar Uttar Pradesh: The Meteorological Department has issued a special warning for the districts of Eastern and Central Uttar Pradesh. There is an alert of heavy to very heavy rain and lightning in many districts of Purvanchal including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Kanpur and Gorakhpur. There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder in Western UP (Meerut, Agra, Aligarh). Bihar: Heavy rain with strong winds (50-60 km/hr) is forecast in more than 20 districts of the state, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Katihar, Darbhanga and Supaul during the next 48 to 72 hours. Farmers have been given strict instructions not to go to open fields and stay away from electric poles. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand: Danger of landslides in hilly areas. There is a possibility of life being affected due to the activity of monsoon in the hilly states. Uttarakhand: Orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli and Rudraprayag between September 1 and 5. There is a danger of landslides on sensitive hilly roads and sudden rise in the water level of rivers and streams. Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rain with strong thunderstorm is forecast in Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Kangra, Mandi and Solan. The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory to the local administration and tourists to stay away from river banks and sloping areas. Northeast India: Alert of torrential rains in Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur. Monsoon winds can cause huge devastation in the northeastern states also. Widespread torrential rains are likely to continue over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till September 5. Due to incessant rains in the lower valleys of Manipur and Assam, the flood-like situation and threat of waterlogging has deepened. Weather in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states: Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall may occur over eastern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha under the influence of low pressure area. Eastern districts of Rajasthan (Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur) will see light to moderate rain activities during September 1 to 5. In South India, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in coastal Karnataka and Kerala also. The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to avoid waterlogged roads during heavy rains and storms, not to take shelter under trees and to check official weather advisories before setting out on a journey.
