New Delhi: Tension increased once again in the Middle East on Monday. UAE claimed that it has stopped an Iranian drone that had entered its maritime territory. The incident came on the heels of a shootout between the US and Iran over the weekend, the first major military action in more than a month.

The UAE Defense Ministry said that Iran had fired a drone on the country on Monday, which was intercepted within the maritime border. UAE described this as a dangerous step to increase tension on the part of Iran.

On Sunday, the US attacked rocket launchers on an island in Iran. America said that Iran was preparing to lay landmines in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran fired missiles at US bases in Jordan, which were stopped.

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said his country does not want war but the attackers will be given a strong response. During this period, America has also increased economic pressure on Tehran so that the Strait of Hormuz can be completely opened for shipping.

Air strikes again in Gaza

On the other hand, at least five Palestinians were killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza City. Shifa Hospital said one of the attacks took place at the gate of a residential building near the Municipal Park, killing two people and seriously injuring two.

The second attack took place on a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa area, killing three people. The Israeli military said it targeted suspected militants in the vehicle, but provided no evidence. According to the Health Ministry, at least 1,320 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire in October.
