England clinched the three-match Test series against Pakistan with a comprehensive 194-run victory in the second Test at Lord’s on Sunday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Chasing a daunting 389 for victory, Pakistan were bowled out for 194 on the fourth day. Saud Shakeel was the visitors’ main resistance, but his determined innings ended at 97 when Josh Tongue dismissed him, denying him a deserved century.
England had been bowled out for 208 in their second innings, with Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas claiming five wickets. Earlier, England had secured a significant first-innings advantage after dismissing Pakistan cheaply.
Ollie Robinson was the chief destroyer with the ball in England’s second innings, taking 4-24 after earlier figures of 4-11. His outstanding performance played a major role in England’s emphatic victory.
The result gives England their first home Test series victory in two years. The third and final Test will begin at Edgbaston on September 9.
