New Delhi: After the controversial statement given by Kerala's Maulana Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musaliar regarding women, now the statement of All India Imam Association President Sajid Rashidi has come to light. He has advocated the implementation of Islamic law and Sharia to stop crimes in the country, especially crimes against women.
Islamic law is necessary: Rashidi
Sajid Rashidi claimed that unless Islamic law is implemented in the country, crimes cannot be completely stopped. He demanded very strict punishment for serious crimes like rape. He said that if such criminals get the harshest punishment, it will create fear among the criminals.
He also expressed concern about the safety of women and girls. Rashidi said that reports of crimes against small girls and elderly women are a serious problem and the safety of their children has become a big challenge for parents.
What did they say when women came out of the house?
Rashidi supported the statement of Kerala's Maulana AP Abubakar Musaliar. Musaliar had recently expressed his objection to women coming into public life and sharing the stage with men and had talked about women staying at home.
Rashidi raised the question what is wrong in this statement. He said that if the safety of women is to be ensured then they should stay at home. Referring to traditional family roles, he said that men should work outside to earn and women should take care of the house and children.
Talk about implementing Sharia
Rashidi talked about implementing strict laws prescribed in Islam for the safety of women. He demanded strict action against the culprits of crimes like rape.
His statements have sparked a new debate regarding women's freedom, their participation in public life and religious laws. However, her supporters call it a religious idea, while critics are questioning the thinking that confines women to the home.
