Vaibhav Suryavanshi completed his fifty by hitting sixes. With this, he became the youngest batsman in the history of Duleep Trophy to score a half-century. At the age of just 15, Vaibhav has registered his name in the record books by achieving this feat.

Vaibhav also had a great chance to score the first century of his first-class career, but was caught out by Arshad Khan in an attempt to play a big shot off the bowling of spinner Harsh Dubey.

Had Vaibhav managed to score a century, he would have become the youngest batsman in the history of Duleep Trophy. Currently this record is held by Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin achieved this feat at the age of 17 years and 262 days.

Fifty finished with sixes

Vaibhav started his innings with a single. He found the rhythm by hitting two fours off Yash Thakur in the second over. He then took full advantage of the poor bowling and scored runs quickly.

Vaibhav also got a lifeline on a personal score of 40, when Yash Rathore dropped his simple catch. Then in the 15th over, Vaibhav completed his half-century by hitting a six off the bowling of Saransh Jain.

This is Vaibhav’s first fifty in the Duleep Trophy. Earlier, he could only score 8 runs in his Duleep Trophy debut against North East Zone.

The central zone ended in 266 runs

In the match, East Zone captain Ishan Kishan decided to bowl before winning the toss. The Central Zone team was all out for 266 in the first innings.

From the central zone, Rinku Singh scored 60 runs in 88 balls with the help of 8 fours. Aryan Juyal contributed 46 runs and Yash Thakur 30 runs not out.

For East Zone, Mukesh Kumar and Abhijeet Sarkar took three wickets each, while Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Konain Qureshi took two wickets each.
