The incident happened while going to a relative’s house
The victim lives with her family in a village in Mainpuri district and studies in class 11 in a government inter college. On August 4, upset with her mother’s words, she left home without informing the family. He had to go to his cousin’s house in Sector 63, Noida.
Due to heavy rain and darkness, she got down at Pari Chowk by mistake. After stopping another bus there, she got the information to go to Sector 63 and boarded the bus. There was no other passenger in the bus at that time.
According to the victim, after the bus moved on, the conductor started misbehaving with her. The driver and conductor then allegedly gang-raped her and threatened to kill her if she protested.
The accused were absconding
The bus reached Delhi late at night. The accused dropped the girl on the ring road near Kashmiri Gate bus stand and from there run away were done The victim then approached the Kashmiri Gate police and reported the entire incident.
Police Medical examination of the victim was conducted and based on her statement, a case was registered under sections including gang rape, kidnapping and assault. A team under the supervision of ACP Shankar Banerjee reached the accused with the help of CCTV footage and picked up driver Kuldeep and conductor Sandeep from Timarpur parking lot.
The bus ran for 47 km
In this case, serious questions have also been raised regarding the security system of the bus. Curtains were placed on the windows of the bus, so that the conditions inside were not visible from the outside. The bus ran for about 47 kilometers from Pari Chowk to Kashmiri Gate, but it was revealed that it was not checked on the way.
According to the information, the driver and conductor took the bus to a workshop in Surajpur area of Greater Noida when the bus developed a technical fault. After repairs, both were returning to Timarpur parking lot with an empty bus. Meanwhile, a girl standing alone at Pari Chowk stopped the bus.
In the police investigation, it has been revealed that the accused took the girl to sector 63 and made her sit in the bus. After the incident, both the accused took a bus and reached Timarpur parking, from where the police picked them up.
This incident has again raised serious questions about safety of women and minors in public transport, screening of buses and emergency security arrangements.
