Ollie Watkins has finalised his £51m transfer from Aston Villa to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, ending his six-year stay at Villa Park.

The 30-year-old forward has agreed a three-year deal and departs as Villa’s all-time leading Premier League scorer, with 91 goals in the competition.

Watkins joined Villa from Brentford in 2020 and went on to play a major part in the club’s progress under Unai Emery. He helped Villa establish themselves as contenders for the Premier League top six and was also part of the team that won the Europa League last season, securing their first European trophy in 44 years.

The England international scored 108 goals in 278 appearances for Villa across all competitions and has won 24 caps for his country.

Watkins was not involved in Villa’s opening league match against Brighton after making himself unavailable amid uncertainty surrounding his future.

He now moves to Al-Hilal, where he will join up with former Premier League winger Crysencio Summerville as the Saudi club continues to add to its squad.
