A passenger ferry carrying 270 people capsized on Sunday afternoon, shortly after leaving the coast of North Cyprus. According to media reports, at present the information has not been revealed whether there has been any casualty in the accident or not. Rescue operation has been started after the incident.
The ferry was going to Türkiye
The catamaran-style ferry was heading from the port of Kyrenia in the northern part of ethnically divided Cyprus to the port of Tasuku in Türkiye's Mersin province. According to local media, the ferry began filling with water about four miles from the shore. Ambulances were also sent to the spot.
Rescue and Health Services Alert
The Health Ministry of the Turkish administration of Northern Cyprus said that all necessary preparations are being made for a quick response by rescue and health services. At present, relief and rescue operations are going on and official information about any casualty in the accident is awaited.
