GATE 2027 Registration: Important news for engineering students. The online registration process for GATE 2027 to be conducted by IIT Madras could not start on time. The application process was earlier to start from August 27, 2026, but it has been postponed for now. It has been said on the official portal of GATE 2027 that information about the new date of commencement of application will be released soon. However, the reason for postponement of registration has not been clarified yet. This is not the first time that changes have been made in the GATE 2027 Registration Schedule. Initially the application process was proposed to start from 14th August, which was later postponed to 27th August. Now after postponing the date for the second time, the candidates are waiting for the new announcement. In such a situation, it is important for the candidates to keep checking the official portal of GATE for updates instead of relying on any unauthorized website or social media post. Registration with DigiLocker will be necessary. This time an important change has been made in the application process of GATE 2027. It has been made mandatory for Indian candidates to register through DigiLocker. IIT Madras has advised the candidates to create their DigiLocker account or update the information of their existing account before the application window opens.

This will avoid unnecessary hassles in the document process after the application starts. Keep these documents ready before application. Candidates should keep the necessary documents ready before the registration starts. These include: Scanned copy of recent Photograph and Signature Valid Photo ID SC/ST Certificate, if applicable UDID/PwD Certificate, if applicable Dyslexia Certificate, if applicable Certificate/Annexure to Extra Time or Scribe facility, if applicable Candidates will be required to carry their original photo ID at the examination center What is the GATE 2027 Application Fee? The application fee for male and unreserved category candidates in the regular registration window is fixed at Rs 2,000. Whereas for female candidates and candidates with SC, ST and PwD certificate, the fee is Rs 1,000. GATE exam will be held in February 2027. There may be a change in the registration schedule, but according to the available official exam calendar, GATE 2027 exam will be conducted in February 2027. The scheduled dates of the exam are 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027. Candidates waiting for the new registration date should continue their preparation in the meantime. To avoid wasting time as soon as the application window opens, it would be better to keep DigiLocker and necessary documents ready in advance.
