Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has launched a special cleanliness campaign across the state under ‘Mission Clean Punjab’. As part of this initiative, the Municipal Corporation Amritsar launched a special sanitation drive in the Central Assembly Constituency.
The campaign commenced from the Telephone Exchange area with the objective of improving cleanliness in the city and creating greater awareness among residents about maintaining a clean environment. MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, along with Mayor S. Jatinder Singh Bhattia, Municipal Corporation Health Officer Dr. Kiran Kumar, officials of the Sanitation Department, Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and sanitation workers, actively participated in the launch of the campaign.
During the drive, small garbage dumping points at various locations across the city were cleaned and accumulated waste was removed. Dr. Ajay Gupta said that under ‘Mission Clean Punjab’, special efforts are being made to clean small garbage dumping points across Amritsar city.
He said that keeping the city clean is not only the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation but also a collective responsibility of every citizen. He appealed to residents not to throw garbage on roads, streets or public places and urged them to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in maintaining cleanliness.
He said that residents should hand over their household waste only to the Municipal Corporation’s door-to-door garbage collection vehicles. Dr. Gupta also made a special appeal to street vendors and rehri-fadi operators to keep the areas around their establishments clean and dispose of waste only at designated places.
He said that with the active cooperation of citizens, the goal of making Amritsar a clean, beautiful and hygienic city can be achieved. Those present on the occasion included Vishal Gill, Monica Bhatti, Ritu Mahajan, Raju Bhattia, Deepak Bagga, Rohit Pehalwan, Chirag Mehra and Sandeep Singh, along with Aam Aadmi Party volunteers and sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation.
