India begins its quest for a fourth Women’s Asia Cup title in the T20 format when it faces Thailand in its 2026 edition opener on Sunday.
The Women in Blue have won three titles, in 2012, 2016 and 2022. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. will be looking to end a four-year wait for the trophy when they take the field at the Dubai International Stadium.
In the last edition, held in 2024 in Sri Lanka, India suffered defeat to the host in the final, a result that saw the Island nation lift its maiden title. It was only the second time India had finished runner-up in the tournament, the other occasion coming in 2018, when it lost to Bangladesh in the summit clash.
In the 2024 final at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Sri Lanka clinched an eight-wicket win over India, chasing down 166 with eight balls to spare.
Captain Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Samarawickrama struck fifties, while Kavisha Dilhari chipped in with a 16-ball 30 as Sri Lanka sauntered to a convincing victory.
