Kolkata. There was chaos last year during the program of famous football player Lionel Messi in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Angry people had caused a lot of vandalism in Kolkata's Yuva Bharati Krirangan Stadium (Salt Lake Stadium). Messi's fans who reached the stadium had demanded refund of their ticket price, but at that time Mamata Banerjee's TMC government kept silence on this demand of Messi's fans. Now West Bengal CM Subhendu Adhikari has decided in this regard.
Shubhendu Adhikari raised the issue of chaos in Lionel Messi's program at an event on National Sports Day on Saturday. He announced that 33 thousand people who bought tickets for Messi's program at the stadium will be refunded their money. Shubhendu said that the process of refunding the ticket amount for Messi's program has been started. Soon everyone will get their money back. CM Shubhendu Adhikari also targeted the TMC government. He said why there should be political control over sports or organisations. CM Shubhendu also handed over appointment letters to the best players of the state. He said that the job documents of many players were gathering dust in the CM office for 11 years.

Talking about Messi's program, he reached Kolkata on 13 December 2025. The Yuva Bharti Krirangan stadium was packed to see him. Messi's fans had bought tickets worth Rs 4000 to Rs 6000. The then Sports Minister of West Bengal and TMC leader Arup Biswas has been accused of chaos in the Messi program. Shatadru Dutta, who organized the event by bringing Messi to Kolkata, has complained to the police that Arup Biswas pressurized him for a large number of free tickets and passes. Threatened to disrupt the program if the demands were not met. Shatadru alleged that TMC leaders and VIPs surrounded Massey. Because of which the common people could not see a glimpse of the football player.
