PF Registration: Investigation by Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) in Gautam Buddha Nagar has revealed negligence in PF registration of employees in about 800 companies. Many employees working in these institutions have not yet been linked to the PF account. EPFO has directed the concerned companies to complete the process by October 31.

Notices issued to companies

EPFO has sent notices to all the identified companies asking them to complete the PF registration of employees. The department has clarified that action can be taken against companies that do not follow the rules within the stipulated time limit.

PF is to the financial security of employees

According to EPFO, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide PF facility to the employees. Provident fund schemes provide long-term savings to employees as well as financial security in emergencies. Despite this, many institutions are still not including their employees under the ambit of PF.

From restaurants to transport companies involved

Around 800 establishments identified in the investigation include restaurants, manpower suppliers, building contractors, transport companies and other business establishments. EPFO is also making these institutions aware about PF rules and rights of employees.

Action will be taken after the deadline

According to EPFO officials, companies are being given a chance to improve by first giving them information about the rules. After October 31, the department will check how many companies have completed the PF registration of employees. Further action will be taken against companies that do not follow the rules.
