After the devastating floods in Nepal, the situation in Trishuli is very bad. Relief and rescue operations are continuing. Rescue teams are busy in taking people to safe places in the affected areas and providing necessary help.

Dinesh, affected by the flood, narrated his painful story to IANS. He said, “We have been living in Trishuli for 17 years. We have a scrap business and a warehouse which has collapsed. Our two brothers are also missing and we have not been able to contact them yet. On August 26, we had called them and told them to run away because we were near the China border, from where the water had come. We have not been able to contact them yet.”

A flood affected woman told how she suddenly had to flee. The woman said, “We were informed to move towards Bidur. We were told that the water had risen. Here the water had reached very high. The police refused to leave from here and sent us back. Our entire family lived and slept in this house. We somehow managed to reach a higher place, but when the water came, we could not even take out our belongings.”

Meanwhile, ASI Rahul Sunar of Nepal Police present on the spot gave information about the rescue operation. He said, “The rescue operation is going on here. We are on duty in Nuwakot. We have not found any living person yet, nor any dead body. Our main focus is to clear the road. We are also rescuing people from their homes. We do not know how long the rescue operation will continue. The rescue operation is still going on, we cannot tell when it will be completed.”

Amidst the ongoing rescue operations in Trishuli, many families are searching for their missing relatives. Those whose everything has been washed away in the flood are taking shelter at higher places. Police and rescue teams are going door-to-door, evacuating people and removing debris from the roads so that help can be provided.
