Dogs need more than food, water and physical exercise to stay happy and healthy. Mental stimulation is equally important, especially when they spend long hours indoors. 1. Excessive Barking

If your dog suddenly starts barking frequently at seemingly ordinary sounds, objects or movements, boredom could be one possible reason. Dogs may vocalise when they have excess energy or are looking for interaction. Before assuming boredom, however, consider whether there has been a change in their environment or routine.

2. Chewing Household Items

Chewing is a natural behaviour for dogs, but boredom can sometimes encourage them to chew furniture, cushions, shoes or other household objects.
