According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, on August 30, 2026, there may be heavy to torrential rains in 26 states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

IMD weather warning: Amidst the activation of monsoon in India, the Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy rains and strong winds in many parts of the country for August 30. According to the available weather forecast, rain and storm conditions may occur in 26 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh. In some areas, the speed of strong winds is expected to reach 85 to 90 kilometers per hour.

Due to strong winds and rain, situations like falling of trees, waterlogging and local traffic impact can arise. The risk of landslides may also increase with heavy rains in hilly areas. At the same time, thunderstorms and lightning activities can be seen in some parts of Eastern India.

Rain and storm warning in 26 states

The states where bad weather is expected for August 30 include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.

In some of these areas, there may be heavy rains along with strong winds. Weather conditions are also important for farmers, as there is a possibility of strong wind and excessive rain causing damage to standing crops.

What is the reason for change in weather?

Due to change in weather system, activity of rain and strong winds may increase in different parts of the country. According to the available forecast, there is a situation of formation of cyclonic circulation at lower tropospheric level over North Haryana and surrounding areas. Apart from this, cyclonic circulation of upper air may also become active in south-eastern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas. Moist winds coming from the northern Bay of Bengal can also affect the weather in eastern and central India.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

Rain and strong winds are forecast in the national capital Delhi on August 30. In some areas the wind speed can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius. During rains, waterlogging and traffic problems may arise on the roads.

Rain and thunderstorm are forecast in many areas of Uttar Pradesh including Mathura, Agra, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kushinagar, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Hamirpur, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Banda, Fatehpur, Kanpur, Shamli, Badaun, Etawah, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Deoria and Basti. The maximum temperature in Lucknow can be around 31 degrees and minimum 27 degrees Celsius.

In Bihar, there is a possibility of rain and strong winds in Gaya, Bhojpur, Siwan, Jehanabad, Gopalganj, Patna, Buxar, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai, Begusarai and Khagaria. The temperature in Patna can range between 33 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius.

Bad weather in Jharkhand and hilly states also

Heavy rain and winds are expected in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Simdega, Deoghar, Dumka, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Khunti, Palamu and Chatra in Jharkhand. Wind speed can reach 70 kilometers per hour in some areas. There is a possibility of rain and strong winds in areas like Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Almora, Bageshwar, Nainital, Haridwar, Tehri Garhwal, Rishikesh and Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand. Bad weather may also occur in Kullu, Kangra, Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, Solan, Lahaul-Spiti and Shimla of Himachal Pradesh.

Keep an eye on Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir also

In Rajasthan, rain and strong winds are expected in Jhunjhunu, Tonk, Ajmer, Alwar, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Barmer, Bharatpur, Kota, Bhilwara, Jodhpur and Pali. The maximum temperature in Jaipur can be around 27 degrees and the minimum can be around 26 degrees Celsius. In Jammu and Kashmir, rain and strong winds may occur in many areas including Jammu, Kishtwar, Poonch, Baramulla, Anantnag, Reasi, Ganderbal, Udhampur and Bandipora. The temperature in Srinagar is expected to be between 31 degrees to 19 degrees Celsius.
