New Delhi: After the tragic death of a 31-year-old research student, Hrishikesh Kumar, at IIT Delhi, one of the premier educational institutions of the country, serious questions have started being raised on the education system. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Deepke has taken a very strong stand on this tragic incident and has launched a scathing attack on the structure of the entire education system of the country. He said that when such incidents are coming to light in the most prestigious institution of the country, it is clearly evident that India's education system has completely deteriorated.

Our youth struggle with problems alone

Abhijeet Deepke alleged that even in the best institutions of the country, students are left isolated with their problems. When a student is going through mental stress or academic pressure, he is left alone to struggle instead of being consoled or understanding his challenges.
He said that only recognizing the distress of students in time and providing them strong administrative and mental support can prevent such tragedies.

An atmosphere of fear among students regarding the future

Expressing deep grief over the suicide of Hrishikesh Kumar, Abhijeet Deepke said that today the youth and students of our country are living under tremendous mental pressure due to uncertainties of the future. He stressed that today there is a strong need to create a sensitive and supportive environment where fear can be removed from the hearts of students and they get proper guidance at every turn.
According to Deepke, in premium institutions like IITs, more than 65 students committing suicide in the last few years is not a normal thing, but it points towards a deep institutional failure.

Formation of committee to investigate the accident

It is noteworthy that on August 22, Rishikesh died after falling from the sixth floor of the lecture hall complex of IIT Delhi. During the police investigation, no suicide note was recovered from the spot, due to which there is confusion regarding the reasons for the incident. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the IIT Delhi administration has constituted an external inquiry committee for an impartial investigation. This investigation panel includes retired Delhi High Court judge Justice Mukta Gupta, AIIMS Professor Pratap Sharan, Registrar of the institute and four representatives of students.

Speaking on the matter, Abhijeet Deepke took a sharp dig at industrialist Subhash Chandra by giving the example of financial agreements to him. He said that while a huge loan of Rs 22 thousand crores is settled for just Rs 6 crores, the common citizen of the country remains burdened with the interest on small loans. He raised the question that if an ordinary person has a home loan of Rs 50 lakh, will the bank forgive him Rs 50 thousand?
