Not I and mine, we and ours is the only solution: Mohan Bhagwat

New York. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat addressed the ‘One World, One Humanity’ program in New York, America. During this he said that every human being has his own dignity, and there is no difference among humans. But the reality that always exists is that we are all one.

He said that after independence we got our Constitution, and this has been emphasized in it. But this is not happening because these things do not happen through politics. I am sorry to say this, but the truth is that politics has now become a game of selfishness. Where there is ‘I and mine’ there is no solution. ‘We and ours’ is the only solution. Therefore, our experience in India is that we have to start from the society. We have already started this. After 2018, after my speech, many people responded.

Mohan Bhagwat said that in today’s world, religions are largely defined by rituals. To follow the religious discipline and walk on the path of divinity, this discipline of rituals is also necessary. But what is the purpose of religion? It leads us to truth. So, if I point at that light, you’ll see my finger pointing and then see the light. But if you keep gazing at my finger, you will never see the light. The purpose is different. It is the search for ultimate truth, divinity, which we call by different names.

He said that because we do not want anything in return. I don’t just tell others not to expect anything. We practice this ourselves in the Sangh. We just give. We don’t want anything. That is why we are far behind in the matter of publicity. Many misconceptions are prevalent. But when you come and see us from within, all those notions will go away in a day.

Bhagwat said that at this level we should start giving instructions to our people and then try to take this dialogue forward in all countries, in the provinces of those countries, at the district level and at the block level. If we do this, the atmosphere will change. So, first of all I thank you all because in the last two-three seasons you have taught me a lot. The most important thing for me is that you all are thinking in the same direction.

He said that in our tradition, Swami Vivekananda’s guru was Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He followed all the religions including Indian origin religions as well as Islam and Christianity till the last stage of worship and attained the ultimate experience attained through these religions. If a Hindu thinks that there should not be Muslims in India, he will cease to be a Hindu. If you want to call yourself a Hindu, you have to believe that all paths lead to the same goal. And every human being has his own honour.
