SMS Incubation and Entrepreneurial Foundation (SIEF) recognized under IT Policy 2022 of Uttar Pradesh Government

Lucknow. SMS Incubation and Entrepreneurial Foundation (SIEF), an initiative of School of Management Sciences, Lucknow in the capital Lucknow, has been approved as a recognized incubator under the IT Policy 2022 / Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy of the Uttar Pradesh Government and activated on the StartinUP Portal. SIEF is among the 12 additional incubators recently approved in the state. This important achievement has been achieved after the decision and approval taken in the meeting of Policy Implementation Unit (PIU) held on 22 June 2026.

In the official notice issued by the Government of Uttar Pradesh regarding the recognition of SIEF, it has been confirmed that the incubator has been approved and activated as a recognized incubator on the StartinUP Portal. Today, during the function organized by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, the important role of more than 24,000 startups in the progress of Uttar Pradesh towards strengthening the innovation and startup ecosystem in the state was underlined. It was also told that with the approval and recognition of 12 new incubators in the state, their contribution in the development of the state will also be commendable.

It is also noteworthy that SIEF is the first selected incubation institute in Lucknow to be recognized in the category of self-financed institutes, which is an important achievement for the School of Management Sciences, Lucknow. With recognition, SIEF will now be able to submit eligible applications and proposals to the benefits, incentives, assistance and schemes available under the policy for eligible startups and entrepreneurs using the facilities available on the StartinUP Portal. This recognition provides an important opportunity for SIEF to further strengthen the startup and innovation ecosystem of Uttar Pradesh and provide institutional support to young entrepreneurs.

On this occasion, Sharad Singh, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, School of Management Sciences, Lucknow said that this recognition received by SIEF is an important testimony of SMS and SIEF's continuous commitment towards innovation, entrepreneurship and startup development. He said that the effort of the institute is to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students and youth and to provide them the necessary platform and resources to give practical shape to their new ideas.

Pro. Bharat Raj Singh, Director, SIEF, said that SIEF aims to provide a powerful platform to students, young entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators where their innovative ideas can be converted into viable and successful enterprises by connecting them with mentorship, technical guidance, business advisory, incubation, networking and government schemes. He said that SIEF will not only help in starting new enterprises, but will also try to provide them necessary guidance and support from the initial stage till the expansion of the business.

Pro. Singh further said that this recognition by the Uttar Pradesh government has increased the capacity as well as responsibility of SIEF. In the times to come, SIEF will develop comprehensive collaboration with industry, educational institutions, experts, investors and government institutions to promote Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Startups, Technology Development and employment generation. He expressed confidence that SIEF will play an effective role in providing opportunities to emerging talents and innovations in Uttar Pradesh and developing the state as a strong and self-reliant startup and entrepreneurship hub.

This achievement of SIEF is a matter of pride for the School of Management Sciences, Lucknow and is an important step towards promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, startup development and employment generation in the state.
